Usage and Limits
The Usage and Limits view provides comprehensive monitoring of your organization's DataStream resource consumption and subscription limits. This view enables administrators to track data ingestion patterns, monitor resource utilization, and manage capacity planning across all organizational tenants.
To access the Usage and Limits view:
- Go to the Home > Organization pane
- Click

The interface displays: "Viewing details for your own organization and all associated tenants."
Weekly Ingest Limit Check
Your plan sets a daily data ingest limit. The platform enforces it with a weekly check rather than day by day.
Every Tuesday (UTC), the platform measures the previous week, Monday to Sunday (UTC). It adds up the week's ingest and divides it by seven to get the week's average daily ingest. A week is over the limit when that average is more than 10% above the plan's daily limit. The 10% allowance is not shown in the console, so a week can read as slightly over the limit there without counting against you.
The response escalates for each week in a row that is over the limit:

Warning
A yellow banner across the top of the console reads Your data ingest is over your plan's limit. It gives last week's average against your daily limit, for example Last week your average daily ingest was 120 GB, over your 100 GB daily limit. If this increase is structural, please reach out to your VirtualMetric CSM and discuss if your license tier still fits your requirements.

Second Warning
From the second week over the limit in a row to the third, a second yellow banner replaces the first. Its title is The platform access will be revoked, and it reads Your average daily ingest has been over your plan's limit for 2 weeks. Data still reaches your targets. Upgrade your plan to continue using the platform before your use will be limited.

Console Locked
The console locks at the fourth week over the limit in a row. Every page except Organization and Account settings redirects to a lock screen, and the side navigation disables the other sections. Your directors keep collecting and sending data as before.
The pages that stay open show a red banner that cannot be closed. Its title is The platform access is now locked, and it reads Your average daily ingest has been over your plan's limit for 4 weeks in a row. Data still reaches your targets. To access the UI, please contact your VirtualMetric CSM.
Lock Screen
While the console is locked, the lock screen is titled The UI is locked. It reads:
- Your average daily ingest has been over your limit for 4 weeks in a row.
- Your directors still process logs, but you are no longer able to manage/configure your pipelines through the UI.
- Upgrade your plan to unlock the UI.
It shows four facts:
- Average daily ingest last week
- Daily limit
- Weeks over in a row
- Next check - the date of the next weekly check
It offers two buttons:
The lock screen does not say that the lock lifts by itself, but it does, as Recovery describes.
Recovery
The console returns to normal:
- after the first weekly check that finds the week's average back within the limit, or
- at once when the plan is upgraded far enough that last week's average fits the new limit.
Both use the same threshold as the check itself: an average no more than 10% above the daily limit counts as within it.
Subtenants
A subtenant goes through the same states, but has no plan to change. Its banners and lock screen offer no
Tenant Filter

Plan Usage Details
The left side, under the Plan Usage Details heading, displays your current resource utilization:
Av. Daily ingest limit
- Current Usage - Real-time data consumption with unit conversion (e.g., "0 B of 5000 GB")
- Progress Bar - Visual indicator with colored fill showing consumption percentage
- Usage Percentage - Precise percentage display (e.g., "0% of limit used")
- Capacity Planning - "Need to upscale daily ingest limit?" with
Talk to sales link - Always Visible - Data ingestion limit applies to all subscription plans
Directors and Agents
The Directors and Agents cards work the same way, and differ from the ingest card above: neither has a progress bar. They count whole things, so they state the position in words.
- Count — the headline is the number in use, on its own (
2), not a fraction - Against the limit — underneath,
2 of 10 used - Warning icon — appears beside the count when the resource is at, or close to, the plan limit, labelled At or close to the plan limit
Where the plan sets no limit for a resource, the card replaces the used line with You can create unlimited directors within Enterprise Plan (or the equivalent for agents). What decides this is the absence of a limit, not the plan's name — and a contracted limit of 0 is a real "none allowed" entitlement, shown as 0 of 0 used rather than as unlimited.

The right side, under the Weekly Data Ingest Breakdown heading, provides detailed ingestion analytics:
Time Period Selection:
- Period Dropdown - Select the timeframe for data analysis:
Last 7 days ,Last 30 days , orLast 3 months
Usage Metrics:
- Daily Average - Average data ingestion per day, rendered as "[value] Daily Average" (e.g., "5 GB Daily Average")
- Total Volume - Cumulative data ingestion, rendered as "Total of [value] [period]" (e.g., "Total of 150 GB Last 7 days")
Analytics Display States
Active Data Processing:
- Line Chart - Time-series visualization of daily ingestion patterns
- Data Points - Daily breakdown showing consumption trends
- Threshold Indicators - Visual threshold lines on chart showing limit zones
- Threshold Labels - Positioned labels indicating:
- Close to Limit - Warning zone approaching daily limit
- Daily Limit - Maximum allowed ingestion threshold
- Interactive Tooltips - Hover over data points to view:
- Formatted date and time with timezone
- Exact data ingestion value with unit (e.g., "150.25 GB")
- Threshold Highlights - Color-coded background zones showing proximity to limits
No Data Available:
- Empty State Icon - Search icon displayed when no data exists
- "No data found" message when no ingestion activity exists
- Information Note: "There is no ingested data information available"
- Indicates new deployments or inactive periods
Error State:
- Error Icon - Variable icon displayed on fetch failure
- Error Title - Clear error message for data retrieval issues
- Error Description - Guidance for resolving data access problems
